In March, plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) accounted for 18.0% of the market share in Germany, marking a decline compared to the previous year, with the sector still feeling the effects of the sudden withdrawal of incentives at the end of December. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) experienced a decrease of approximately 29% in year-on-year volume, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) saw a decline of 4.5%. Overall, the automotive volume reached 263,844 units, reflecting a 6% decrease compared to the previous year and a 25% drop from the seasonal norms of 2017–2019, which averaged around 350,000 units. The Tesla Model Y emerged as the top-selling BEV during this period.
