Avatr 07L SUV Debuts With Huawei ADS 5, 725 km Range, and Fast Charging

Avatr Technology has launched the new 07L SUV, aiming to strengthen its position in China’s competitive electric SUV market. Backed by Changan Automobile, Huawei, and CATL, the Avatr 07L features advanced driver assistance, rapid charging, and a starting price of $32,513 (~AUD 46,216) for a limited time. The model is positioned to compete directly with the Xiaomi YU7.

Avatr 07L Launch and Pricing

The Avatr 07L was officially launched on Saturday, expanding Avatr Technology’s lineup of electric SUVs. The five-seat model is available in three versions, with standard prices set at $33,992 (~AUD 48,318), $36,949 (~AUD 52,521), and $41,384 (~AUD 58,826). For a limited time, buyers can access benefit prices of $32,513 (~AUD 46,216), $35,470 (~AUD 50,419), and $39,906 (~AUD 56,725).

A new entry-level Elite all-electric version has been introduced, reducing the starting price by $2,957 (~AUD 4,203) compared to pre-sales. The Max+ and Ultra tri-motor versions retain their pre-sale pricing.

Design, Dimensions, and Interior

The Avatr 07L measures 4,910 mm (~193 inches) in length, 1,980 mm (~78 inches) in width, and 1,650 mm (~65 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,990 mm (~118 inches). The Ultra version is slightly taller at 1,670 mm (~66 inches). Compared to the Avatr 07, the 07L is 85 mm (~3.3 inches) longer and has a 50 mm (~2 inches) longer wheelbase, providing more rear-seat and luggage space.

Cargo capacity includes a 100-liter frunk and a 735-liter rear trunk, which expands to 1,645 liters when the rear seats are folded. Inside, the SUV features a 15.6-inch central control screen, a 35.4-inch 4K panoramic display, and a zero-gravity front passenger seat with dual 120-degree semi-reclining positions.

Performance, Battery, and Charging

The Elite and Max+ versions are powered by a single rear motor delivering 305 kW (409 hp), enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds. The Ultra version features a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined output of 712 kW and peak torque of 996 Nm, reducing the 0-100 km/h time to 3.7 seconds.

All variants are equipped with an 89.33 kWh CATL Shenxing Battery and support 5C fast charging. The Avatr 07L achieves a CLTC range of up to 725 km (~451 miles) or 650 km (~404 miles), depending on the version. Built on an 800-volt silicon carbide platform, the SUV can charge from 0 to 80% in 20 minutes and from 30% to 80% in less than 10 minutes.

Smart Features and Driver Assistance

Every Avatr 07L comes standard with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance system and the HarmonySpace cockpit. The Max+ and Ultra versions include the higher-end ADS Max, featuring a roof-mounted 896-channel LiDAR sensor. The Elite version is equipped with the ADS Pro enhanced system and an in-cabin LiDAR.

According to Avatr, the 896-channel LiDAR is the highest-spec LiDAR in mass production, capable of identifying objects as small as 14 centimeters from 120 meters away. The SUV is among the first to support RCA roaming cruise assist, allowing NCA driver assistance activation without pre-set navigation. Parking-spot-to-parking-spot navigation assist is available on the Max+ and Ultra versions. Smart closed air springs and magic carpet suspension are also standard on these higher trims.

Market Position and Sales

The Avatr 07L targets the 250,000 to 300,000 yuan all-electric SUV segment, with the Xiaomi YU7 as a primary competitor. Avatr sold 35,250 vehicles in the first seven months of 2026, averaging about 5,040 units per month, which remains below the sales figures of China’s leading EV startups.

The existing Avatr 07 will remain available after a lineup adjustment, and an extended-range version of the 07L is planned for the future. The launch also coincides with Avatr’s renewed efforts to pursue a Hong Kong stock listing, following the refiling of its IPO application in June.

Why this matters

The introduction of the Avatr 07L demonstrates the rapid pace of innovation and competition in China’s electric SUV market. With advanced driver assistance, fast charging, and a competitive price, the 07L is positioned to attract buyers seeking high-tech features and long range.

As Avatr seeks to expand its market share and pursue a public listing, the 07L will play a key role in the company’s growth strategy.

What this means for buyers

Buyers interested in a technologically advanced electric SUV now have a new option in the Avatr 07L, especially with its limited-time pricing. Those considering the Xiaomi YU7 or similar models should compare features such as driver assistance, charging speed, and interior technology.

With multiple trims and an extended-range version on the horizon, prospective customers may want to evaluate which configuration best suits their needs or wait for future updates.
