BYD is set to launch presales for its new Da Han flagship sedan at the 29th Chengdu Auto Show on August 21, 2026. The Da Han, also known as the Great Han, brings impressive specs including rear-wheel steering, advanced assisted driving, and up to 1,008 km (~626 miles) of electric range. The model will be showcased alongside hundreds of other vehicles at one of China’s largest automotive events.
BYD Da Han to Debut at Major Auto Show
The BYD Da Han will make its official debut at the 29th Chengdu Auto Show, held at the Western China Expo City. This event, covering 220,000 square meters, will feature around 1,600 vehicles from 120 different brands. Presales for the Da Han will begin on August 21, 2026, coinciding with its public unveiling.
Flagship Sedan Offers Impressive Range and Power
The Da Han stands out with its 5.3-meter length and a wheelbase of 3,130 mm (~123 inches), making it 66 mm (~2.6 inches) longer than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. BYD has equipped the sedan with rear-wheel steering and the DiPilot 5.0 assisted driving system, which includes a LiDAR sensor on the roof and cameras in the front fenders.
Two main powertrain options will be available. The entry-level all-electric variant features a single e-motor with a peak power of 370 kW (496 hp) and a 102.326 kWh battery, delivering up to 1,008 km (~626 miles) of range under CLTC conditions. The top-trim all-wheel-drive version boosts combined peak power to 570 kW (764 hp) and offers an 880 km (~547 miles) range with the same battery.
Plug-in Hybrid Variants and Fast Charging
For those preferring a hybrid, the Da Han DM uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a peak power of 115 kW (154 hp). The entry-level hybrid pairs this engine with an electric motor for a total of 200 kW (268 hp), and a 54.489 kWh LFP battery allows up to 470 km (~292 miles) of electric-only driving. A dual-motor AWD hybrid version will also be available, offering 400 kW (536 hp).
All Da Han variants support flash charging technology, enabling a rapid charge from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes.
BYD’s Recent Sales Performance
According to China EV DataTracker, BYD sold 411,072 vehicles globally in July 2026, marking a 20.5% increase year-over-year. However, domestic deliveries in China declined by 30.9% year-over-year to 172,449 units.
Why this matters
The BYD Da Han brings advanced electric and hybrid technology to the flagship sedan segment, offering both long range and high performance. Its debut at a major auto show highlights BYD’s ongoing push to compete at the top end of the Chinese and global EV markets.
What this means for buyers
Buyers interested in a large, high-tech sedan with significant electric range and rapid charging should watch for the Da Han’s presale launch on August 21, 2026. Pricing and further details will be revealed at the Chengdu Auto Show, making it a key date for those considering a flagship EV or plug-in hybrid.
