BYD has begun offering residential solar energy kits through 233 dealerships in Brazil, making its photovoltaic technology available to a wide range of consumers. The new solar kit is designed to deliver an average of 600 kWh per month and is available to all buyers, not just BYD vehicle owners.
BYD Solar Kit Details
The standard BYD solar kit includes eight 600 W photovoltaic panels, providing a total installed capacity of 4.8 kWp. The package comes complete with an inverter, supporting structures, cables, and connectors. BYD estimates that, depending on operational conditions and solar resources, the system can generate an average of 600 kWh per month.
All equipment, installation, grid certification with power distributors, and a one-year insurance policy are bundled into a single contract. The kit’s components are manufactured locally at BYD’s Campinas plant in São Paulo.
Pricing and Financing Options
The total cost of the BYD solar kit is approximately $3,671 (~AUD 5,136). For customers purchasing the Song Pro Flex plug-in hybrid SUV with cash or financing through Banco Santander, the solar kit can be financed over 36 months at 512 BRL per month with zero down payment and zero interest. This instalment plan does not include a financial operation tax (IOF) of 578.62 BRL and a registration fee of 1,149 BRL.
Customers who already own a vehicle, regardless of brand, can also finance the kit through Banco Santander, with monthly interest rates starting from 1.69%.

BYD’s Solar and Automotive Operations in Brazil
BYD Solar was established in 2008, and later that year, the company invested $74.2M (~AUD 103.8M) in a polysilicon and solar cell project in Shangluo, Shaanxi. In 2010, BYD founder Wang Chuanfu identified new energy vehicles, solar power stations, and energy storage stations as the company’s three major new energy directions.
The Campinas plant in Brazil now has a photovoltaic module production capacity of 0.5 GW, with cumulative output surpassing 2 million units as of 2022.
Song Pro Flex Plug-in Hybrid SUV
The launch of the solar kit coincides with the release of the BYD Song Pro Flex, a plug-in hybrid SUV produced at BYD’s Camaçari plant in Brazil. The Song Pro Flex features Flex Fuel technology, enabling operation on electricity, petrol, or ethanol.
According to BYD, the GL model offers an all-electric range of 60 km (~37 miles), while the GS model reaches 120 km (~75 miles). The SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre engine compatible with various petrol-ethanol blends and incorporates BYD’s DM-i plug-in hybrid system.
Why this matters
BYD’s integration of solar energy kits into its dealership network in Brazil demonstrates the company’s commitment to expanding renewable energy solutions alongside its electric mobility offerings. By manufacturing components locally and offering bundled installation and certification, BYD is streamlining access to residential solar power for Brazilian consumers.
What this means for buyers
Buyers in Brazil now have the option to purchase a turnkey solar kit directly from BYD dealerships, with flexible financing options available. The bundled approach simplifies the process of adopting solar energy, making it more accessible for homeowners and vehicle owners alike.
