At the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao division has officially revealed the interiors of its new Formula S and Formula S GT models. Both vehicles are now available for pre-order, with deliveries set to begin in early September. The new series introduces a range of design and technology features aimed at the premium electric sedan segment.

Interior Features and Technology
The interiors of the Formula S and Formula S GT feature a floating central control screen, complemented by two physical knobs at the base for tactile operation. The dashboard is finished with soft-touch materials and includes integrated speaker openings directly on the surface.
A multi-function steering wheel, bearing the Fang Cheng Bao logo and equipped with physical buttons, is paired with a column-shift gear lever. The vehicles will come equipped with BYD’s Smart Ecosystem 2.0, which supports three open interfaces: PIN ports, magnetic suction, and threaded connectors. Additional core technologies include the DiSus-M intelligent magnetorheological suspension, Flash Charging, and the ‘God-Eye B’ system.
Design and Dimensions
The Formula (Fang Cheng) series adopts a ‘Life Metal Aesthetics’ design philosophy and is offered in three variants: FangCheng S, FangCheng S L, and FangCheng S GT. The exterior design features a closed front grille, polygonal headlights, and a through-type intake.
At the rear, the models are styled with smoked taillights, a centrally placed brand logo, a subtle ducktail spoiler, and a rear diffuser. The Formula S measures 5,060 mm (~199 inches) in length, 1,967 mm (~77.4 inches) in width, and 1,483 mm (~58.4 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,960 mm (~116.5 inches).
Performance and Range Options
The new series will be available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. RWD models offer maximum motor power options of 245 kW (330 hp) and 300 kW (402 hp). AWD models feature a front motor with 190 kW (255 hp) and a rear motor with 300 kW (402 hp).
Battery choices include 76.744 kWh and 92.093 kWh LFP packs. Depending on the selected configuration, the CLTC pure electric cruising range is available in five options: 730 km (~454 miles), 750 km (~466 miles), 770 km (~478 miles), 830 km (~516 miles), and 900 km (~559 miles).
Why this matters
The unveiling of the Formula S and Formula S GT interiors at a major auto show highlights BYD’s ongoing commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup. With a variety of configurations and advanced in-car technologies, these models add new options for buyers interested in premium electric sedans.
The range of battery and drivetrain choices, along with the integration of BYD’s latest smart systems, positions the Formula S series as a notable entry in the current EV market.
