Geely Farizon has officially started operations at its first overseas knock-down (KD) plant in Indonesia, marking a significant step in the company’s international expansion. The first locally assembled V8E all-electric logistics vehicle rolled off the line on August 13, just months after Geely Farizon entered the Indonesian market.
First Overseas Plant Launches Near Jakarta
Geely Farizon’s new KD plant, located about 80 kilometers southeast of Jakarta, has begun local assembly of the V8E electric logistics vehicle. The milestone was celebrated on August 13, with company executives and local partners in attendance.
This facility represents Geely Farizon’s first overseas localized production project for its commercial new energy vehicle (NEV) unit. The plant currently assembles the V8E, with plans to upgrade production lines and expand the local product lineup in the future.
V8E Electric Logistics Vehicle Tailored for Indonesia
The V8E that rolled off the Indonesian production line has been calibrated for local urban road conditions, logistics scenarios, and the region’s tropical climate. It features an 8.5-cubic-meter cargo compartment and offers an all-electric range of more than 400 kilometers (~250 miles).
Geely Farizon positions the V8E for urban last-mile delivery, urban-rural freight, and intra-city logistics, aiming to meet the needs of Indonesia’s growing commercial transport sector.
Strategic Partnerships and Regional Expansion
Geely Farizon entered Indonesia in January 2026 through a partnership with Arista Group, launching its SV model in the market. In April, the company showcased the V7E and a 16-seat passenger version of the SV at a local commercial vehicle expo.
At the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2026) in late July, the V8E made its overseas debut. The Indonesian KD project is set to serve as Geely Farizon’s strategic pivot in the ASEAN region.

Mike Fan, CEO of Geely Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to local integration, stating, “Geely Farizon does not merely export vehicles to Indonesia. We aim to take root in the country, integrate into local industrial chains and build sustainable local-based capacity together with Indonesian partners.”
Fan added, “Relying on local manufacturing, we will build end‑to‑end capacity covering products, production, supply chains and after‑sales services, and develop vehicles adapted to local roads and market needs.”
Ongoing Projects and Future Plans
In China, Geely Farizon is accelerating its deployment of intelligent and large-scale commercial vehicles. In June, the company partnered with Cao Cao Mobility, Geely’s ride-hailing subsidiary, with a goal to deploy 100,000 T6 robovans by 2030.
Geely Farizon is also collaborating with WeRide (NASDAQ: WRD) to build autonomous taxis, with plans to deliver 2,000 mass-produced GXR vehicles in 2026. The upgraded GXR model is expected to roll off the line in the third quarter of 2026.
