Leapmotor‘s chairman and CEO Zhu Jiangming has increased his stake in the company for the second time in a month, as the company’s Hong Kong-listed shares remain under pressure. The latest purchase comes amid a period of strong delivery growth for the Chinese electric vehicle maker.
Latest Share Purchase by Leadership
Zhu Jiangming, chairman and CEO of Leapmotor, along with shareholder Fu Liquan, recently acquired a combined 4,814,200 H shares on the open market. The average price for this transaction was about $5 (~AUD 7) per share, totaling $22.1M (~AUD 32M).
This marks the second time in a month that Leapmotor’s leadership has increased its stake. Over the past six months, Zhu and Fu’s combined purchases have reached approximately $114.8M (~AUD 166.3M), including the latest acquisition.

Shareholding and Market Performance
Following the latest purchase, the single largest shareholder group, including Zhu, now holds 227,616,838 H shares and 128,517,839 domestic shares. This represents 25.05% of Leapmotor’s total issued share capital, up from 24.71% a month earlier.
Leapmotor’s Hong Kong-listed shares are currently trading near their lowest level since February 2025. However, the stock rebounded by 2.5% to $5 (~AUD 7) per share as of the latest update.
Ongoing Management Purchases
Leapmotor’s management has made several share purchases over the past two years. In early June, Zhu and Fu spent about $62.5M (~AUD 90.5M) to acquire 11.62 million H shares.
Since 2024, the cumulative amount of stock purchases by the company’s leadership has approached $255M (~AUD 369.4M).
Strong Delivery Growth and Product Expansion
Despite the weak share performance, Leapmotor’s vehicle deliveries have shown significant growth. The company delivered 93,376 vehicles globally in June, a 94.51% increase year-on-year, setting a new monthly record.
In the first half of 2026, Leapmotor delivered a total of 356,487 vehicles, up 60.82% compared to the same period last year. Second-quarter deliveries reached 246,332 units, an 83.68% year-on-year increase.
Leapmotor has set a target of delivering 1 million vehicles for the full year of 2026. To support this goal, the company updated its C10, C11, and C16 SUVs on June 16, with starting prices as low as $18,510 (~AUD 26,815). On June 25, Leapmotor launched its first flagship MPV, the D99, marking its entry into a higher-end segment.

Global Expansion Efforts
Leapmotor’s Lafa 5 electric hatchback has gone on sale in Hong Kong and is set to roll out across 28 countries and regions worldwide.
Why this matters
The continued share purchases by Leapmotor’s top executives highlight active involvement from company leadership during a period of share price volatility. At the same time, the company’s strong delivery growth and expanding product lineup signal ongoing momentum in both domestic and international markets.
What this means for buyers
Buyers can expect Leapmotor to continue expanding its product offerings and presence in global markets throughout 2026. The company’s focus on new models and international rollouts may provide more options for consumers in various regions.
