Leapmotor Reveals A05s Interior as Compact EV Nears Launch

Leapmotor has released the first official images of the A05s interior, highlighting a design aimed at younger compact EV buyers. The A05s is the second model in Leapmotor’s A series and is expected to play a key role in the company’s ambitious 2026 delivery targets.

First Look at the A05s Interior

Leapmotor shared the first official interior images of the A05s, following an exterior preview earlier this month. The cabin features a two-tone color scheme with pink and off-white, which Leapmotor described as creating a “personalized and trendy aesthetic.” Large sections of the interior are wrapped in eco-friendly synthetic suede, offering a soft and refined feel.

Key elements include a two-spoke steering wheel, a floating central touchscreen, and a small instrument display positioned behind the wheel. The design also incorporates a full-width air vent with ambient lighting, while the center console provides cupholders and storage space for a clean, organized layout.

Design and Features

Leapmotor positions the A05s as a “smart, agile premium sedan” and describes it as a “global modern fashion statement.” The company emphasized that every detail, from the color palette to the materials, was carefully considered to appeal to its target audience.

Preview images also show a prominent LiDAR sensor bump on the roof, hinting at advanced driver assistance features. The A05s is classified as a compact hatchback based on its proportions, though in China, such models are often labeled as sedans.

Technical Specifications and Range

Leapmotor filed the A05s with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in March. The vehicle measures 4,200 mm (~165 inches) in length, 1,800 mm (~71 inches) in width, and 1,560 mm (~61 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,605 mm (~103 inches).

Buyers will have a choice between 70-kW and 90-kW motor options, paired with either a 39.8-kWh or 53-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. The A05s offers driving ranges of 405 km (~252 miles) and 510 km (~317 miles), depending on the selected configuration.

Market Position and Sales Targets

The A05s is the second model in Leapmotor’s A series, following the A10 small SUV launched in March. After its official debut, the A05s will compete directly with other popular compact EVs such as the BYD Dolphin and Geely Xingyuan.

Leapmotor has set an ambitious goal of delivering 1 million vehicles in 2026. In June, the company delivered a record 93,376 vehicles globally, marking a 94.51% increase from the previous year. First-half deliveries reached 356,487 units, up 60.82% year-on-year, representing about 35.6% of the full-year target.

Why this matters

The unveiling of the A05s interior signals Leapmotor’s continued push to attract younger buyers and expand its presence in the competitive compact EV segment. With strong backing from Stellantis and a clear focus on design and technology, Leapmotor is positioning the A05s as a key model to help achieve its aggressive 2026 sales targets.

The A05s will face stiff competition from established rivals, but its blend of style, range, and features could make it a strong contender in both domestic and global markets.

What this means for buyers

Buyers interested in compact EVs will soon have another option with the Leapmotor A05s, which promises a stylish interior, competitive range, and advanced features. Those considering the BYD Dolphin or Geely Xingyuan may want to wait for the A05s launch to compare specifications and pricing before making a decision.
