Li Auto Mega Receives New Update With More Power and Technology

Li Auto‘s Mega electric minivan is set for another update, bringing new features and performance improvements to the Chinese market. The latest version introduces changes to the wheels, powertrain, and advanced technology systems. The Mega continues to stand out with its unique design and luxury positioning.

Design Changes and Exterior Updates

Recent images show the updated Li Auto Mega now features solid aero discs on its wheels, with the pictured model sporting white discs. Customers will also be able to choose more subtle black discs. These changes are aimed at further improving the minivan’s aerodynamic efficiency.

Other exterior updates include the addition of chrome accents to the front end and minor tweaks at the rear, but the overall design remains largely unchanged from previous versions.

Powertrain and Performance Enhancements

The new Mega is powered by dual electric motors, delivering a combined output of 554 hp (413 kW). The rear-mounted motor now produces 346 hp (258 kW), an increase from the previous 328 hp (245 kW), while the front motor remains at 208 hp (155 kW).

A larger 108 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery replaces the previous 102.7 kWh unit, supporting an estimated range of 710 km (~441 miles) on the CLTC cycle.

Advanced Technology and Suspension

The updated Mega will include four separate LiDAR units, enhancing its sensor suite. Rear-wheel steering is also being introduced, which is expected to improve maneuverability.

Li Auto is moving from a dual-chamber air suspension system to a fully active suspension setup. This new system can directly apply force to the wheels, helping to counteract body roll and pitch during driving.

Pricing and Configurations

Li Auto will offer the new Mega in two configurations: Home and Ultra. The Home version is priced at $78,612 (~AUD 110,453), while the Ultra version is listed at $83,064 (~AUD 116,708).

Why this matters

The Li Auto Mega‘s latest update demonstrates the rapid pace of innovation in China’s electric vehicle market, particularly in the luxury minivan segment. By introducing more powerful motors, a larger battery, and advanced features like LiDAR and rear-wheel steering, Li Auto is pushing the boundaries of what family-oriented EVs can offer.

What this means for buyers

Buyers interested in a high-tech, luxury electric minivan now have more options with the updated Li Auto Mega. The new features and performance improvements may appeal to families seeking advanced technology and long-range capability in a distinctive package. Prospective customers should compare the Home and Ultra configurations to determine which best fits their needs.
