Mega battery built at demolished coal power plant in California will save billions

The largest battery energy storage system operated by Nevada utility NV Energy is situated on the site of a former coal-fired power plant, promising substantial cost savings for customers. Constructed by Swiss-US battery energy storage specialist Energy Vault (NYSE: NRGV), the Reid Gardner Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is grid-tied and boasts a capacity of 220 MW/440 MWh. Located in Moapa, Nevada, approximately 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas, Energy Vault will be responsible for maintaining the system.
