The U.S. Coast Guard reports a potential 1.1 million gallons of oil, equivalent to around 26,000 barrels, could have leaked into the Gulf of Mexico due to a pipeline breach off the coast of Louisiana on Thursday. The 67-mile-long underwater pipeline, owned by Main Pass Oil Gathering and operated by Third Coast Infrastructure LLC, is the focus of an ongoing investigation as the source of the spill remains undisclosed as of Monday.
