Nio’s July 2026 delivery data shows a strong performance from its premium SUV lineup, with the ES8 returning above the 10,000-unit mark. The ES8 and ES9 together accounted for a significant share of the company’s total deliveries, highlighting the growing concentration of sales in these two models.
Premium SUVs Drive Nio’s July Deliveries
According to data compiled by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Nio’s ES8 and ES9 delivered a combined 16,603 units in July 2026. This represented 83% of the main Nio brand’s 20,008 deliveries and 46% of Nio Inc’s overall 35,934 deliveries for the month.
The ES8 delivered 10,288 units in July, marking a return to five-digit monthly sales and a 14.7% increase from June’s 8,969 units. Nio had previously disclosed a figure of 10,286 ES8 units on Weibo for July, a minor difference from the CPCA data.

Impact of the New 5-Seat ES8
The rebound in ES8 deliveries was driven by the launch of the 5-seat version on July 9, with deliveries beginning the following day. This new variant starts at $56,666 (~AUD 80,278) including the battery pack, which is 5.9% lower than the 3-row version. Under Nio’s battery as a service (BaaS) plan, the starting price drops to $40,679 (~AUD 57,629).

In the first seven months of 2026, cumulative ES8 deliveries reached 88,947 units, up more than 20-fold from a year earlier.

ES9 and Other Model Performance
The ES9 delivered 6,315 units in July, down from 8,595 in June. The ES9 was launched on May 27 with a starting price of $73,719 (~AUD 104,437). Despite the month-on-month decline, the ES9 reached its 20,000th delivery on August 8, just 73 days after initial deliveries began. The current waiting time for higher-spec ES9 versions is 13 to 14 weeks.
Other Nio models saw lower sales. The ES6 SUV delivered 875 units in July, down 28% from June, while the EC6 delivered 356 units. The ET5 Touring delivered 1,561 units, the ET5 sedan 508 units, the ET7 five units, and the EC7 two units. ES7 deliveries fell to zero. The flagship ET9 sedan delivered 98 units in July, down from 125 in June.
Performance of Sub-Brands Onvo and Firefly
Nio’s sub-brand Onvo delivered 10,155 units in July, a 13.5% decrease from June. The Onvo L90 SUV delivered 4,949 units, up 43% month-on-month, while the L80 delivered 3,232 units and the L60 1,974 units.
Small-car brand Firefly delivered 5,771 units in July, down from 6,946 in June.
Exports and Financial Overview
Exports remained limited, totaling 92 units in July compared with 72 in June. The main Nio brand had an average transaction price of $64,334 (~AUD 91,141) in July, with the delivery volume equivalent to about $1.3B (~AUD 1.8B) in revenue.
Founder, chairman and CEO William Li stated on July 10 that rising raw-material prices had increased the cost of each ES8 by nearly $2,961 (~AUD 4,194). He noted that the company was working with supply-chain partners to offset some of these increases to keep prices stable.

Why this matters
The strong performance of the ES8 and ES9 underscores a shift in Nio’s sales toward its premium SUV offerings. The rapid uptake of the new 5-seat ES8 variant demonstrates the importance of product updates in driving demand.
With cumulative ES8 deliveries up more than 20-fold year-on-year and overall group deliveries rising nearly 68% in the first seven months of 2026, Nio’s focus on higher-priced models is having a significant impact on its financial results.
What this means for buyers
Buyers interested in Nio’s premium SUVs now have more options, especially with the introduction of the more affordable 5-seat ES8. Those considering the ES9 should be aware of current waiting times for higher-spec versions, which range from 13 to 14 weeks.
With price stability a stated goal despite rising costs, prospective customers may want to monitor for any future adjustments as supply-chain pressures continue.
