Nio Firefly Surpasses 70,000 Deliveries After 15 Months on the Market

Nio Inc’s premium compact EV brand, Firefly, has reached a new milestone by delivering its 70,000th vehicle. This achievement comes just 15 months after the brand began deliveries in late April 2025, highlighting Firefly’s steady growth in a competitive market.

Firefly’s Delivery Milestone

Firefly announced on Weibo that its 70,000th vehicle was delivered in Lishui, Zhejiang province. The brand began its first deliveries on April 29, 2025, and reached this milestone in about 15 months.

The 70,000th delivery came 54 days after Firefly reached 60,000 deliveries on May 23, following a similar 55-day period to move from 50,000 to 60,000 units. This consistent pace suggests stable demand rather than a single-month surge.

Recent Sales Performance

In June 2026, Firefly delivered 6,946 vehicles, marking its second-highest monthly total after December 2025, when 7,084 units were delivered. June’s figure represented a 76.7% increase year-on-year and a 22.7% rise from May.

By the end of June, Firefly had delivered 68,586 vehicles, and an additional 1,414 units in early July pushed the total past 70,000. In the first half of 2026, Firefly delivered 29,172 vehicles, accounting for 15.26% of Nio Inc’s total deliveries during the period.

Firefly’s Role in Nio Inc’s Portfolio

Firefly is currently the lowest-priced product in Nio Inc’s lineup, with only one model on sale. In June, Firefly accounted for 17.11% of Nio Inc’s total deliveries.

Nio Inc delivered 191,123 vehicles in the first half of 2026, up 67.4% year-on-year. The Nio main brand delivered 119,488 vehicles, while the Onvo brand delivered 42,463.

Product Details and Pricing

The Firefly EV measures 4,003 mm (~157.6 inches) in length with a wheelbase of 2,615 mm (~103 inches). It features a single motor producing 120 kW and a 42.1-kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 420 km (~261 miles).

Pricing for the Firefly EV starts at $17,664 (~AUD 25,370) with the battery, while the higher-trim version starts at $18,549 (~AUD 26,640). Under the BaaS (battery as a service) plan, the starting price drops to $11,766 (~AUD 16,899), and the higher-trim version begins at $12,651 (~AUD 18,170).

Battery Swap Network and International Expansion

Firefly began internal testing at fifth-generation battery swap stations in Shanghai, Beijing, Hefei, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Kunshan on June 25. Due to its shorter body and wheelbase, the Firefly EV cannot use Nio Inc’s existing fourth-generation stations. The new fifth-generation stations are designed to accommodate vehicles from Nio, Onvo, and Firefly.

Nio Inc has stated that large-scale deployment of these new battery swap stations will begin in the third quarter of 2026. Firefly has also entered more than 10 overseas markets, and its right-hand-drive version was displayed at the 2026 Hong Kong Auto Show, signaling plans to expand into additional right-hand-drive markets beyond Thailand and Singapore.

Why this matters

Firefly’s achievement of 70,000 deliveries in just over a year demonstrates the growing importance of compact, affordable EVs in Nio Inc’s overall strategy. The brand’s steady sales performance and integration into Nio’s multi-brand lineup highlight its role in diversifying the company’s offerings.

The rollout of fifth-generation battery swap stations and Firefly’s entry into new international markets could further strengthen its position in the competitive EV landscape.

What this means for buyers

Buyers interested in a compact electric vehicle now have a proven option in the Firefly, with steady sales and expanding support through Nio’s battery swap network. Those in right-hand-drive markets should watch for upcoming launches as Firefly prepares to expand its international presence.
