Nio’s Average Selling Price Hits $65,192 (~AUD 94,045) in June as ES9 Flagship SUV Drives Premium Push

Nio’s average transaction price surged to $65,192 (~AUD 94,045) in June 2026, highlighting the brand’s growing strength in China’s premium EV market. The ramp-up of ES9 deliveries, alongside new model launches, has lifted Nio’s overall price structure and reinforced its premium positioning.

Nio’s Premium Pricing Power

The Nio brand’s average transaction price reached $65,192 (~AUD 94,045) in June, well above the average for China’s passenger vehicle market. In China, vehicles priced above $44,148 (~AUD 63,687) are considered premium, underscoring Nio’s position in the high-end segment.

Ma Lin, Nio’s vice president of branding and communications, confirmed the figure in a Weibo post. He previously engaged users in guessing the number, rewarding the closest guesses.

ES9 Flagship SUV Drives Sales Momentum

The ES9, Nio’s flagship SUV, has played a key role in boosting the brand’s average price. With a starting price of $73,286 (~AUD 105,721), the ES9 was officially launched on May 27, and deliveries began the following day.

On June 26, Nio announced that the ES9 had surpassed 10,000 deliveries in about 30 days, setting a record for premium all-electric models priced above $73,580 (~AUD 106,145) in the Chinese market.

Nio has now begun deliveries of the six-seat aisle version of the ES9, which features independent second-row seats and a central aisle for direct access to the third row. This version offers 816 liters (~28.8 cubic feet) of cargo space with all six seats occupied, enough to hold 13 suitcases. Previous ES9 units delivered featured a second-row center console layout.

Upcoming Launches: Five-Seat ES8 Expands Lineup

Nio is set to launch the five-seat version of its ES8 SUV on July 9, following the opening of pre-orders on June 28. This new variant will join the existing six-seat and seven-seat ES8 models, broadening the appeal of the lineup.

The third-generation ES8, with a starting price of $59,865 (~AUD 86,360), is a high-margin model and has been a key driver of Nio’s recent financial performance.

June Delivery Results

The main Nio brand delivered 21,908 vehicles in June, marking a 50.13% increase year on year. Nio Inc as a whole delivered 40,597 vehicles in June, its highest monthly total so far in 2026.

Market Positioning and Competitors

The ES8 is positioned as a family vehicle, competing with Li Auto‘s Li L8 and the Huawei-backed Aito M8. In contrast, the ES9 targets business executive customers and competes with models such as the Aito M9 and Zeekr 9X.

Why this matters

Nio’s rising average transaction price and strong sales of high-end models like the ES9 and ES8 highlight the company’s ability to compete in China’s premium electric vehicle market. The successful ramp-up of flagship SUVs demonstrates consumer demand for luxury EVs and reinforces Nio’s premium brand image.

What this means for buyers

Buyers considering a premium electric SUV in China now have more options with Nio’s expanding ES9 and ES8 lineups. Those seeking a business-focused vehicle may look to the ES9, while families may prefer the ES8, with new five-seat, six-seat, and seven-seat configurations available. The strong sales performance suggests continued support and investment in Nio’s premium offerings.
