Nio’s Firefly Brand Nears 70,000 Deliveries as Sales Momentum Builds

Nio Inc’s compact EV brand, Firefly, is approaching its 70,000th vehicle delivery, marking a significant milestone for the company. The announcement was made on Firefly’s official Weibo account, coinciding with World Firefly Day and the launch of the brand’s annual theme season.

Firefly’s Delivery Milestone

Firefly, the boutique compact EV brand under Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO), is set to reach its 70,000th vehicle delivery soon. As of the end of June, cumulative deliveries stood at 68,586 units. The brand completed its 60,000th delivery on May 23, following its 50,000th on March 29.

In June, Firefly delivered 6,946 vehicles, representing a 76.65% increase year-on-year and a 22.66% rise from May. This was the second-highest monthly figure on record for the brand, only surpassed by December 2025’s 7,084 deliveries. Firefly accounted for 17.11% of Nio Inc’s total deliveries in June.

Product and Market Expansion

The Firefly EV, currently the brand’s only model, began first deliveries on April 29, 2025. In April this year, an updated version was launched, with prices ranging from $17,642 (~AUD 25,437) to $18,525 (~AUD 26,711) for outright purchase, and $11,751 (~AUD 16,944) to $12,635 (~AUD 18,218) under the BaaS (battery as a service) scheme.

Firefly is also leading Nio’s expansion into overseas markets, having entered more than 10 countries, including right-hand-drive markets such as Singapore and Thailand. A right-hand-drive version of the Firefly EV was showcased at the 2026 Hong Kong Auto Show last month.

Battery Swap Integration and Technical Developments

Since June 25, Firefly has been conducting internal testing at Nio’s fifth-generation pioneer battery swap stations in six cities, including Shanghai and Beijing. Previously, Firefly vehicles were unable to use Nio’s fourth-generation stations due to their short wheelbase. Nio has stated that large-scale deployment of the new stations will begin in the third quarter of this year.

Community Engagement and Environmental Initiatives

The announcement of the upcoming milestone coincided with World Firefly Day, which falls on the first weekend of July. Firefly launched its annual theme season, ‘glow together,’ and renewed its partnership with Fu Xinhua, director of the Firefly Conservation Research Center in Hubei, to promote firefly habitat protection.

Why this matters

Firefly’s rapid approach to the 70,000-delivery mark highlights growing demand for compact electric vehicles in China and abroad. The brand’s integration with Nio’s battery swap network and its expansion into international markets signal its increasing relevance in the competitive EV sector.

What this means for buyers

Buyers considering the Firefly EV can expect continued support and technical improvements, such as access to Nio’s latest battery swap stations. The brand’s expansion into new markets and ongoing updates to its only model suggest a commitment to both product evolution and service accessibility.
