Seyond’s Q2 LiDAR Shipments Surge 385% as Robin Series Drives Growth

Seyond, a key LiDAR supplier to Nio, has reported a dramatic increase in its second-quarter shipments, with total units up nearly fivefold year-on-year. The company’s Robin series has emerged as the primary growth driver, accounting for the majority of shipments in the latest quarter.

Second-Quarter Shipment Breakdown

According to a filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Seyond shipped approximately 271,100 LiDAR units in the second quarter of 2026. This represents a 385% increase compared to the same period last year and a 49% rise from the previous quarter.

The Robin series, designed for a broader range of vehicle models, saw shipments reach about 191,600 units—a year-on-year surge of 3,209% and a 66% increase quarter-on-quarter. The Robin series accounted for roughly 71% of Seyond’s total shipments for the quarter.

Meanwhile, the Falcon series, Seyond’s ultra-long-range forward-facing LiDAR, recorded about 77,800 units shipped in Q2, up 55% year-on-year and 19% from the previous quarter.

Cumulative and Annual Performance

With first-quarter shipments included, Seyond’s cumulative LiDAR deliveries in the first half of 2026 have surpassed 450,000 units. In April, the company announced that its all-time cumulative deliveries had exceeded 1 million units.

Seyond’s annual production capacity reached 1.2 million units as of April, with plans to add another 1 million units of capacity within the year. The company expects its full-year shipments in 2026 to grow by about 200%.

Market Position and Customer Base

Seyond, founded in 2016 and listed in Hong Kong since December 2025, is the third LiDAR maker to go public in the city, following RoboSense Technology and Hesai Group. The company’s Falcon LiDAR is used across all models of the Nio main brand, while the Robin series is featured in Onvo, Nio’s mass-market sub-brand.

As of April, Seyond had secured mass-production project orders from 18 automakers and autonomous driving companies, including SAIC Volkswagen, GAC Group, and Leapmotor.

Industry Trends and Competitive Landscape

China’s ADAS LiDAR industry has seen rapid growth, with shipments rising 87% year-on-year to about 447,000 units in May 2026, according to NE Times data cited by Deutsche Bank. Cumulative industry shipments in the first five months of 2026 reached approximately 1.8 million units, up 130% year-on-year.

Within this period, Seyond delivered 259,964 units, a 291% increase year-on-year, ranking fourth behind Hesai, Huawei, and RoboSense. In May, Seyond’s share of the front-facing main LiDAR market rose 1.1 percentage points year-on-year to 8.9%. Deutsche Bank noted a reshuffling among top players, with Hesai and Seyond gaining share from RoboSense and Huawei.

Falling prices have contributed to broader adoption, with RoboSense’s average selling price for LiDAR dropping 52% year-on-year in the first quarter to $197 (~AUD 284), and some front-facing main LiDAR units priced as low as the 800 yuan level in 2026.

Why this matters

Seyond’s rapid shipment growth and expanding customer base highlight its increasing role in China’s competitive LiDAR market. The surge in Robin series shipments reflects strong demand from both established and new automotive partners.

The broader industry trend of rising LiDAR adoption and falling prices is reshaping the competitive landscape, with Seyond gaining market share alongside other leading suppliers.

What this means for buyers

Buyers and industry observers can expect to see more vehicles equipped with advanced LiDAR systems as suppliers like Seyond ramp up production and expand partnerships. The continued decline in LiDAR pricing may also lead to wider availability of these technologies in a broader range of vehicle models.
