Tesla China recorded its strongest monthly wholesale volume of 2026 in June, continuing an eight-month streak of year-on-year growth. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the company’s wholesale numbers reflect both domestic sales and exports from its Shanghai plant.
June Wholesale Volume Reaches New High
Tesla China’s wholesale volume reached 89,091 units in June, marking a 24.43% increase compared to the same month last year. This figure also represents a 3.62% rise from May’s total of 85,982 units, making June the company’s best-performing month so far in 2026.
The company has now posted year-on-year growth in wholesale volume for eight consecutive months.

Quarterly and Half-Year Performance
In the second quarter of 2026, Tesla China’s wholesale volume totaled 254,551 units, up 32.77% from a year earlier. For the first half of the year, cumulative wholesale volume reached 467,949 units, representing a 28.39% year-on-year increase.
Tesla’s wholesale volume includes both domestic retail sales and exports from its Shanghai facility. The detailed breakdown for June is not yet available and is expected in an upcoming CPCA report.
Tesla’s Performance in Context
Tesla’s growth comes amid a competitive Chinese EV market. In June, Nio Inc delivered 40,597 vehicles, Xpeng delivered 40,126 vehicles, and Leapmotor set an all-time monthly record with 93,376 deliveries.
Meanwhile, Li Auto and Huawei-backed HIMA saw year-on-year declines in deliveries. Industry leader BYD posted new energy vehicle wholesale volume of 403,472 units in June, up 5.46% year-on-year, with record overseas sales contributing to the result.
Tesla’s Financing Initiatives
To support demand in the local market, Tesla recently launched a new vehicle financing program. In May, the company introduced ‘Easy Loan,’ a service aimed at making Tesla vehicles more accessible to budget-conscious Chinese consumers.
For the Model 3 rear-wheel-drive version, which starts at $34,650 (~AUD 50,198), the five-year ‘Easy Loan’ plan requires a minimum down payment of $8,225 (~AUD 11,915).

Why this matters
Tesla China’s sustained growth in wholesale volume highlights the company’s ability to compete in a rapidly evolving and highly competitive EV market. The introduction of new financing options like ‘Easy Loan’ may further support Tesla’s position among Chinese consumers.
As the market continues to shift, Tesla’s performance provides insight into broader trends in both domestic sales and exports for global EV manufacturers operating in China.
What this means for buyers
Buyers in China may benefit from Tesla’s ongoing financing initiatives, which lower the initial cost barrier for popular models like the Model 3. Those considering a Tesla purchase should monitor upcoming CPCA reports for more detailed sales data and stay informed about new programs that could impact affordability.
