Tesla Raises Cybertruck Prices Again, Entry Model Now Starts at Nearly $75,000

Tesla has increased the price of its Cybertruck once more, pushing the starting price of the entry-level model to $74,990. This marks a $5,000 jump from the previous day and a $15,000 increase since February 2026. The move comes as Cybertruck sales remain well below Tesla’s original projections.

Cybertruck Pricing Sees Significant Hikes

The entry-level Tesla Cybertruck now starts at $74,990 (~AUD 104,625), following a $5,000 (~AUD 6,976) price increase this week. The Premium trim also saw its price rise by $5,000 (~AUD 6,976), now listed at $84,990 (~AUD 118,577). Meanwhile, the top-tier Cyberbeast trim remains unchanged at $99,990 (~AUD 139,505).

Back in February 2026, the lowest trim was offered at $59,990 (~AUD 83,697), making the current entry price $15,000 (~AUD 20,928) higher than it was just six months ago. Tesla’s original 2019 projection for the Cybertruck’s starting price was $40,000 (~AUD 55,808), which, even after adjusting for inflation, is still well below today’s pricing.

Sales and Production Context

Tesla had planned to manufacture around 250,000 Cybertruck units annually. However, estimated sales for the first half of 2026 reached only 7,263 units, a figure that is down approximately 32% compared to the same period last year.

Cybertruck reservations were estimated to have exceeded two million units back in 2023. In Q4 2025, SpaceX reportedly purchased nearly 20% of all Cybertrucks sold during that quarter.

Industry and Public Reactions

The Cybertruck’s launch has drawn comparisons to the Ford Edsel, with Bloomberg suggesting it could surpass the Edsel as one of the most disappointing automotive launches. The vehicle’s polarizing design, reported quality and reliability issues, and CEO Elon Musk’s public persona have all contributed to a challenging rollout.

Musk acknowledged early on that the Cybertruck could ‘flop,’ but expressed his personal enthusiasm for the design regardless of commercial success.

Why this matters

The latest price increases make the Cybertruck significantly more expensive than Tesla’s original projections, potentially impacting its appeal to early reservation holders and new buyers. With sales figures falling short of expectations and production targets, the pricing strategy signals a notable shift for Tesla’s electric pickup.

These developments highlight the challenges Tesla faces in meeting both its own ambitions and customer expectations for the Cybertruck.

What this means for buyers

Prospective Cybertruck buyers should be aware that the entry price is now substantially higher than previously announced. Those considering a purchase may want to monitor for further changes in pricing or availability, as well as Tesla’s ongoing production and delivery performance.
