Xiaomi to Launch Sky Nomad EREV SUV Lineup on September 7

Xiaomi Auto has announced the official launch date for its new Sky Nomad extended-range SUV lineup, set for September 7. The event will introduce three models—N70 Pro, N70 Max, and N90 Max—marking Xiaomi’s expansion into the EREV segment. This launch comes as the company continues to report strong monthly vehicle deliveries.

Sky Nomad Lineup Details

Xiaomi Auto revealed on Weibo that the Sky Nomad N70 Pro, N70 Max, and N90 Max will be officially launched at its fall flagship product event at 7 pm Beijing Time on September 7. This is the first time the company has provided a specific launch date and time for the Sky Nomad lineup since pre-sales began on July 30.

Previously, only the N70 Max and N90 Max were available for pre-sale. The addition of the N70 Pro expands the initial offering for the series.

Specifications and Features

The Sky Nomad series is Xiaomi’s second automotive product line and represents its first entry into the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) market. The flagship N90 Max is a 7-seat SUV measuring 5,285 mm (~208 inches) in length with a 3,080 mm (~121 inches) wheelbase. It features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, a CLTC battery-only range of 464 km (~288 miles), and a combined range of 1,705 km (~1,060 miles) on a full charge and full tank.

The N70 Max offers two battery pack options—52 kWh and 76 kWh—with a maximum CLTC battery-only range of 505 km (~314 miles). Like the N90 Max, it also uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.

All Sky Nomad models come standard with Xiaomi’s HAD (Hyper Autonomous Driving) driver-assistance system and are powered by an Nvidia Drive Thor chip delivering 700 TOPS of computing power.

Pricing and Pre-Sales

The N90 Max has a pre-sales price of $44,521 (~AUD 62,145), while the N70 Max is priced at $38,583 (~AUD 53,856). Pricing for the N70 Pro has not been announced.

Xiaomi Auto’s Delivery Performance

Xiaomi Auto reported on September 1 that its vehicle deliveries remained above 30,000 units in August, marking the fifth consecutive month at this level. Based on this lower bound, the company delivered an estimated 246,322 vehicles in the first eight months of 2026, which is 44.8% of its annual target of 550,000 units.

To reach its annual goal, Xiaomi Auto would need to deliver an average of about 75,900 vehicles per month from September through December.

Market Context

According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), retail sales of extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) in China fell 15.35% year-on-year to 535,000 units in the first seven months of 2026. The Sky Nomad lineup enters the market amid these broader industry trends.

Other Product Launches at the Event

The September 7 event will also see the launch of the Xiaomi 18 Fold foldable smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max tablet. Both devices will debut the Xring O3 flagship AI processor designed by Xiaomi.

The event is scheduled three days before Apple’s fall product launch on September 10 Beijing Time.

Why this matters

The Sky Nomad lineup marks Xiaomi’s entry into the EREV segment, broadening its automotive offerings beyond battery electric vehicles. The launch comes at a time when the EREV market in China is experiencing a slowdown, making Xiaomi’s performance in this segment particularly noteworthy.

With strong monthly deliveries so far in 2026, the success of the Sky Nomad models could play a significant role in Xiaomi Auto’s ability to achieve its ambitious annual targets.

What this means for buyers

Buyers interested in extended-range SUVs will soon have new options from Xiaomi, with the Sky Nomad lineup offering a range of battery capacities, advanced driver-assistance features, and high computing power. Those considering a purchase should watch for final pricing details and delivery timelines following the official launch.
