Xiaomi has revealed the interior of its upcoming Sky Nomad SUV, offering a first look at the brand’s new approach to flexible cabin design. The Sky Nomad, now open for reservation inquiries, is the first model in Xiaomi’s second product series following the SU7/YU7 lineup. With features like rotating seats and a configurable ‘bar counter,’ Xiaomi aims to redefine what an SUV cabin can offer.
Transformable Interior and Flexible Layouts
Xiaomi released images and details of the Sky Nomad’s interior, highlighting its focus on adaptable space. Animated demonstrations show that the first-row seats can rotate, while a floor-standing table can be placed between the front two rows to create a ‘living room’-style environment. The front-row center armrest slides backward and, with a tabletop accessory inserted into the cup holder, forms a ‘bar counter.’

According to Xiaomi, ‘Has the SUV reached the end of its evolution? No. The interior space of the Xiaomi Sky Nomad, revealed for the first time,’ was shared on the official Weibo account. The cabin can be transformed when parked, serving as a studio for one, a café for two, a living room for three, or a playground for a family. Even with all three rows of seats in use, the vehicle can hold at least seven pieces of luggage.
Design and Platform Innovations
The Sky Nomad stands out with a rugged, boxy side profile and a new front fascia, differing from the dynamic curves of the SU7 and YU7. Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun described the Sky Nomad as a ‘smart convertible large-space SUV.’ He noted that while the SU7/YU7 series is a ‘driver’s car,’ the Sky Nomad series, refined over three and a half years, aims to create a ‘living space.’
To achieve this, Xiaomi developed the new Kunlun platform architecture from scratch in early 2023. The SUV’s flat floor and long-rail design enable intelligent switching of interior layouts, supporting the vehicle’s flexible use cases.

Technical Details and Market Position
The first Sky Nomad model, internally code-named Kunlun N3, is a full-size extended-range SUV measuring over 5.3 meters (~208.7 inches) in length. It is built as an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and is expected to feature a battery pack exceeding 70 kWh, offering an all-electric range of 400 to 500 kilometers (~249 to 311 miles).
Pricing for the Sky Nomad is expected to start as low as $29,404 (~AUD 42,408), positioning it in direct competition with Li Auto and Huawei-backed Aito. The model opened for reservation inquiries on Thursday.
Production and Expansion Plans
On June 10, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) approved Xiaomi EV to produce extended-range electric passenger vehicles at its Beijing plant, expanding beyond its previous focus on battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The Sky Nomad series is a central part of Xiaomi’s 2026 growth strategy.
Xiaomi has set an ambitious delivery target of 550,000 units for 2026, a 34% increase from 410,000 units in 2025. In the first half of this year, Xiaomi EV delivered 185,055 vehicles, reaching about 34% of its annual goal. To meet the target, monthly deliveries in the second half of 2026 will need to reach around 60,000 units.
Why this matters
The Sky Nomad’s focus on a transformable, multi-use interior signals a new direction for family and lifestyle SUVs in China’s competitive market. By introducing a flexible cabin and advanced platform architecture, Xiaomi is positioning itself against established players like Li Auto and Aito.
With the Sky Nomad series forming a key part of Xiaomi’s 2026 expansion, the company’s ability to scale production and deliver on its ambitious targets will be closely watched by both consumers and industry observers.
What this means for buyers
Buyers interested in a versatile, spacious SUV with extended-range electric capability should keep an eye on the Sky Nomad as reservations open. Its competitive pricing and innovative interior could make it a strong contender in the segment, especially for families or those seeking a multi-purpose vehicle.
Potential customers should monitor Xiaomi’s production progress and delivery rates, as meeting the high demand will be crucial for timely availability.
