G9L Arrives in Showrooms Nationwide

On August 17, Xpeng confirmed that the G9L crossover has arrived for display at 119 showrooms spanning 19 administrative divisions in China. Zhejiang Province leads with 28 stores featuring the new model. These vehicles are for display purposes only and are not available for immediate sale.

The G9L is presented in a variety of body colors and interior finishes, giving prospective buyers a first look at the model’s design and features.

Powertrain Options and Performance

The all-electric G9L comes standard with a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 270 kW (362 hp), enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.8 seconds. This version offers up to 702 km (~436 miles) of range from a 91.9 kWh LFP battery. The dual-motor AWD variant adds a 160 kW (215 hp) front motor, for a combined output of 430 kW (577 hp) and a range of up to 660 km (~410 miles) with the same battery. An optional 110 kWh battery pack increases the range to 755 km (~469 miles).

The G9L EREV features dual-motor AWD as standard, with a front motor rated at 160 kW and a rear motor at 230 kW (308 hp), for a total output of 370 kW (496 hp). It accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.95 seconds. A CALB-supplied 63.3 kWh LFP battery provides 435 km (~270 miles) of electric range (CLTC), while a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine (110 kW/148 hp) acts as a generator. With a 60-liter fuel tank, the EREV achieves a total mixed range of 1,602 km (~996 miles) under CLTC conditions.

Market Context

Presales for the Xpeng G9L began at $38,428 (~AUD 54,295). According to China EV DataTracker, Xpeng delivered 28,327 vehicles recently, representing a 16% year-over-year decrease.

Why this matters

The arrival of the Xpeng G9L at showrooms across China signals the company’s continued push into the high-end SUV market with both BEV and EREV options. The model’s advanced features and multiple powertrain choices highlight Xpeng’s efforts to appeal to a broad range of consumers.

With the G9L now available for viewing in major cities, Xpeng is positioning itself to compete in a segment where technology, range, and comfort are key selling points.

What this means for buyers

Buyers interested in the Xpeng G9L can now visit showrooms to see the vehicle in person and explore its features before the official sales launch. Those considering a high-end electric or extended-range SUV will find the G9L’s range, performance, and interior amenities competitive within its class.
