Xpeng X9 MPV Launches in Seven European Countries as Exports Surge

Xpeng has expanded its international presence by launching the X9 MPV in seven European countries. The move comes amid a sharp rise in the company’s overseas exports and growing demand for its electric vehicles.

Xpeng X9 Arrives in Europe

Xpeng announced that its flagship X9 MPV is now available in Germany, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Croatia, Slovenia, and Hungary. Deliveries have already begun, with a family in Norway among the first to receive the new model, according to Xpeng chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng.

The X9 is positioned for the premium family and business mobility market and features a spacious 7-seat cabin. It comes equipped with an 800-volt architecture, a 5C ultra-fast charging battery, and rear-wheel steering technology.

Safety and Pricing

Xpeng stated that the X9 meets the 2026 European five-star safety design standards and has received a Euro NCAP five-star safety rating. In China, the X9 is priced between $45,767 (~AUD 64,782) and $54,630 (~AUD 77,328), making it the company’s most expensive model.

Xpeng’s Export Growth

Xpeng’s overseas business has seen rapid growth, with May exports up 80.39% year-on-year to a record 6,503 units. Exports accounted for 20.22% of the company’s total deliveries for the month.

In the first five months of this year, Xpeng exported 24,066 vehicles, representing a 61.28% increase year-on-year. The company has indicated that international business revenue is expected to exceed 20% starting in the second quarter.

Xpeng X9 and Company Performance

In May, the X9 recorded 2,153 deliveries, contributing 6.7% of Xpeng’s total for the month. From January to May, 14,275 X9 units were delivered, accounting for 11.34% of the company’s deliveries during that period.

Xpeng’s overall deliveries in May reached 32,158 vehicles, a 4.08% decrease year-on-year but a 3.70% increase month-on-month. The Mona M03 sedan remained the best-selling model with 14,160 units delivered, making up 44.03% of total deliveries. The GX flagship SUV, launched on May 20, is expected to see increased deliveries as production ramps up.

Why this matters

The launch of the Xpeng X9 in multiple European countries highlights the company’s accelerating global expansion and growing competitiveness in the electric vehicle market. Strong export growth and the introduction of higher-margin models like the X9 have contributed to improved financial performance, with Xpeng reporting a first-quarter gross margin of 20.6 percent.

What this means for buyers

Buyers in Europe now have access to Xpeng’s most advanced MPV, which offers premium features, fast charging, and top safety ratings. Those interested in a spacious electric people carrier can now consider the X9 as a new option in the European market.
