Zeekr, the premium EV brand under Geely Auto, has launched pre-sales for the five-seat version of its flagship hybrid SUV, the Zeekr 9X. This move introduces a new seating option alongside the existing six-seat layout, aiming to attract a wider range of buyers. Customers placing reservations can access limited-time benefits and incentives.
Five-Seat Zeekr 9X Pre-Sales Begin
Zeekr officially announced the start of pre-sales for the five-seat version of its 9X SUV through its social media channels. The new configuration joins the previously available six-seat layout, offering more flexibility for customers interested in the flagship hybrid model.
Those who reserve the five-seat 9X can receive pre-sales benefits valued up to $13,232 (~AUD 19,048), which include a complimentary Naim sound system and electric running boards. Additionally, a $735 (~AUD 1,058) deposit can be applied toward a $1,470 (~AUD 2,116) deduction on the final purchase payment. The pre-sales price for the five-seat version has not yet been disclosed.
Zeekr 9X: Hybrid Power and Performance
The Zeekr 9X, launched in September 2025, is the brand’s first hybrid model and is built on the SEA-S super hybrid variant of Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture. It features a full-stack 900-volt hybrid high-voltage system.
High-end versions of the 9X are equipped with a tri-motor megawatt electric drive system, delivering up to 1,030 kW (1,381 hp) of peak output. This allows the full-size luxury SUV to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (~62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds.
Sales Momentum and Market Position
Since its launch, cumulative deliveries of the Zeekr 9X have surpassed 60,000 units. In the first five months of 2026, the model delivered 40,487 units, including 8,441 in May and a record 10,191 in March.
As of May, the Zeekr 9X led sales charts for large SUVs in China’s 500,000 yuan class for seven consecutive months. According to Zeekr, one in every three luxury vehicles sold above 500,000 yuan was a 9X during this period.
Zeekr as a brand has also seen significant growth, delivering 35,169 vehicles in June 2026—a 110.57% year-on-year increase and a new monthly record. In the first half of 2026, total deliveries reached 178,370 units, up 96.57% year-on-year, with cumulative deliveries at 821,259 units by the end of June.
Upcoming Overseas Expansion
Zeekr plans to introduce its 9-series dual flagships, including the 9X, to overseas markets in the second half of 2026. The official overseas launch for the Zeekr 9X is scheduled for the third quarter.
Rival Moves in the Segment
Zeekr’s announcement comes as competitors make similar moves. Nio Inc has opened reservations for the five-seat version of its large SUV, the ES8, with an official launch event set for July 9, 2026.
Why this matters
The introduction of a five-seat version of the Zeekr 9X provides buyers with more choice in the premium hybrid SUV segment. With strong sales momentum and new incentives, Zeekr is reinforcing its position in the competitive Chinese luxury SUV market.
The upcoming overseas expansion signals Zeekr’s intent to broaden its reach beyond China, potentially increasing its influence in the global premium hybrid SUV space.
What this means for buyers
Buyers interested in the Zeekr 9X now have the option to choose between five-seat and six-seat layouts. Those considering a purchase can take advantage of the current pre-sales incentives, which include valuable add-ons and purchase deductions. With the model set to enter overseas markets soon, international buyers should watch for regional availability announcements.
