2027 Chevrolet Silverado EV Gains More Power, NACS Port, and New Tech Features

Chevrolet has updated the 2027 Silverado EV lineup with a notable power increase for its Trail Boss variant and introduced a Tesla-style NACS charging port across all trims. The refreshed electric pickup also receives several new technology features and a price adjustment for the new model year.

Power Boost for Trail Boss Max Range

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss equipped with the Max Range battery pack now delivers 750 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque when Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode is activated. This marks a 25-horsepower increase over the previous model. The maximum output is only available in WOW mode, which is designed for peak acceleration and not regular driving.

Other Silverado EV trims retain their existing power figures, but the Trail Boss stands out with its enhanced performance capabilities.

NACS Charging Port Now Standard

All 2027 Silverado EV models now come equipped from the factory with a native Tesla-style North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. This addition allows owners to access Tesla Superchargers and other NACS-equipped charging stations without the need for an adapter, improving charging convenience.

New Technology and Safety Features

Chevrolet has added several new tech features to the 2027 Silverado EV. The Cabin Glance feature provides a live video feed of the vehicle’s interior on the infotainment screen. Security Recording activates the onboard cameras to record video if the alarm is triggered.

Additionally, the Surround Vision Recorder continuously captures footage while the vehicle is in use, functioning similarly to Tesla’s Dashcam system.

Pricing Updates Across the Lineup

The 2027 Silverado EV sees a price increase across all trims. The base Standard Range model now starts at $56,085 (~AUD 80,070), which is $700 (~AUD 999) more than the previous year. The LT and Trail Boss trims with the Extended Range battery are each $1,000 (~AUD 1,428) higher than last year.

The Trail Boss with the Max Range battery now starts at $90,395 (~AUD 129,052), reflecting a $1,200 (~AUD 1,713) increase over the 2026 model.

Lineup and Production Changes

All Silverado EV trims feature a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup. The entry-level WT trim offers 510 horsepower and either 490 or 580 pound-feet of torque, depending on battery capacity. The LT Standard Range delivers 605 horsepower and 605 pound-feet of torque, while the LT Extended Range increases output to 645 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque.

The Trail Boss Extended Range provides 625 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque, and the Trail Boss Max Range reaches the new peak of 750 horsepower. The Trail Boss also includes a two-inch suspension lift, off-road body kit, 35-inch tires, four-wheel steering, and new driving modes. Despite its off-road focus, the Trail Boss Max Range offers up to 478 miles (~770 km) of range.

The RST trim has been discontinued for 2027. Production of the updated Silverado EV began at GM’s Factory Zero in Michigan last month.

Why this matters

The 2027 Silverado EV’s updates reflect Chevrolet’s efforts to keep its electric pickup competitive by enhancing performance, charging accessibility, and in-vehicle technology. The addition of the NACS port aligns the Silverado EV with a growing industry standard, making charging more convenient for owners.

The power increase and new tech features are likely to appeal to buyers seeking both capability and advanced safety in an electric truck.

What this means for buyers

Buyers considering the 2027 Silverado EV will benefit from improved performance, easier access to charging infrastructure, and enhanced onboard technology. The price increases are relatively modest compared to the added features, but shoppers should note the discontinuation of the RST trim and check which configuration best suits their needs.
