BYD Denza N8 EV Set for November 12 Launch With Up to 1,193 hp and 1,003 km Range

BYD’s Denza brand is preparing to launch its latest pure electric SUV, the N8 EV, with the official market debut scheduled for November 12. Pre-orders for the new model began on October 26, offering buyers a range of powertrain and luxury options. The N8 EV stands out with its high-performance tri-motor configuration and a claimed CLTC range exceeding 1,000 km (~620 miles).

Design and Dimensions

The Denza N8 EV continues the brand’s signature design language, featuring split headlights with dual-strip LED daytime running lights and vertical high/low beam units. The front bumper incorporates active air vents, and a front trunk (frunk) is included for added practicality.

Buyers can select from four exterior colours—Celestial Cyan, Night Black, Streamer Silver, and Cloud Grey—as well as four two-tone options: Deep Space Blue, Aurora Green, Daylight Orange, and Twilight Grey. The SUV measures 5,150 mm (~203 inches) in length, 1,999 mm (~78.7 inches) in width, and 1,820 mm (~71.7 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm (~121 inches). Additional design features include a concave semi-hidden door handle, 20-inch or 21-inch wheels, a roof spoiler with an integrated high-mounted brake light, a hidden rear wiper, and full-width dual-strip taillights. The trunk provides 1,046 litres (~36.9 cubic feet) of standard cargo space, supplemented by hidden storage compartments.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the Denza N8 EV is equipped with a 30-inch panoramic screen and a 1.1-meter-wide integrated ‘Sky Screen.’ The cabin is finished with premium leather and wood grain accents, available in four colour schemes: Moonlit Mountain (light beige/dark blue), Morning Mist Beige, Dawn Red, and Evening Brown.

The vehicle features four ‘zero-gravity’ seats—two in the front and two in the rear. The front seats recline up to 165°, while the rear seats recline up to 146° and offer 13 cm (~5.1 inches) of longitudinal adjustment. All seats are equipped with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Additional amenities include dual 50W wireless charging pads, ambient lighting, a Devialet sound system, rear entertainment screens, an onboard refrigerator, and the ‘God’s Eye 5.0’ driver-assistance system.

Performance and Battery Options

The Denza N8 EV will be available in both rear-wheel-drive (single motor) and all-wheel-drive (tri-motor) configurations. The single-motor version offers two power outputs: 320 kW (429 hp) and 370 kW (496 hp). The tri-motor setup uses a front-one, rear-two motor layout, with the front motor producing 270 kW (362 hp) and each rear motor producing 310 kW (416 hp), resulting in a combined system output of 890 kW (1,193 hp). This configuration supports features such as ‘compass turn’ (tank turn) and intelligent crawling modes.

Equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology, the N8 EV offers several range options. The top-tier 130.15 kWh battery delivers a CLTC range of 1,003 km (~623 miles), while other battery configurations allow for ranges of 970 km (~603 miles), 840 km (~522 miles), and 800 km (~497 miles). The vehicle also features the DiSus-A intelligent air suspension system and rear-wheel steering for improved handling.

Why this matters

The Denza N8 EV’s combination of high power output, long range, and luxury features highlights BYD’s ongoing push to expand its electric vehicle lineup. With a tri-motor configuration delivering up to 1,193 hp and a claimed range exceeding 1,000 km, the N8 EV targets buyers seeking both performance and advanced technology in a large SUV.

The launch of the N8 EV also demonstrates the rapid pace of innovation in China’s electric vehicle market, where automakers are introducing increasingly capable and feature-rich models.

What this means for buyers

Buyers interested in a high-performance electric SUV with advanced comfort and technology features will find the Denza N8 EV a compelling option. With pre-orders already open and the official launch set for November 12, prospective customers can expect a range of configurations to suit different needs, from long-range travel to luxury amenities.
