Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 SUV Debuts with 2-2-3 Seating Layout and Advanced Features

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its latest SUV, the SkyNomad N90, at the end of July 2026. The new model stands out for its 2-2-3 seven-seat configuration, a layout first seen in BYD’s Great Tang and more commonly associated with MPVs like the Buick GL8. The SkyNomad N90 also brings a range of innovative interior and performance features to the large SUV segment.

Distinctive 2-2-3 Seating Arrangement

The SkyNomad N90 distinguishes itself from other large SUVs by adopting a 2-2-3 seating layout. While many high-end family SUVs favour a 2-2-2 six-seat setup for individual comfort, Xiaomi’s new model offers seating for seven, providing flexibility for families and groups.

This configuration was previously introduced in the BYD Great Tang, making the SkyNomad N90 one of the few SUVs in China to feature this arrangement. The layout is also familiar to those who know the Buick GL8 MPV.

Interior and Technology Highlights

Xiaomi describes the SkyNomad N90 as an “intelligent variable large-space SUV,” focusing on maximizing cabin versatility. The vehicle is available in both 5-seat and 7-seat versions, with a completely flat floor and ultra-long rails running the length of the cabin.

Interior features include front seats that can rotate 180°, standard zero-gravity comfort seats in the second row, and a ceiling-mounted screen that slides forward and backward. Additional options include a PAD expansion for the third row and a projection kit for enhanced entertainment.

Exterior Design and Intelligent Features

The SkyNomad N90 measures 5,285 mm (~208 inches) in length, 1,998 mm (~79 inches) in width, and 1,825 mm (~72 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 3,080 mm (~121 inches). The exterior is marked by ‘Mi’-shaped LED light clusters integrated into the front grille and a unified panel featuring the ‘SkyNomad’ logo.

A LiDAR system is mounted on the roof, supporting the vehicle’s advanced intelligent driving capabilities.

Performance and Range

The SkyNomad N90 is powered by a 1.5T range-extender system. The range extender delivers up to 112 kW, while the drive motors provide peak outputs of 210 kW (282 hp) and 100 kW (134 hp).

Equipped with a 76 kWh battery, the SUV achieves a WLTC pure electric range of 363–370 km (~226–230 miles) and can reach a top speed of 190 km/h.

Why this matters

The introduction of the 2-2-3 seating layout in the SkyNomad N90 expands options for buyers seeking a versatile large SUV, especially those needing to accommodate more passengers without sacrificing comfort. The combination of flexible seating, advanced entertainment, and intelligent driving features positions the SkyNomad N90 as a strong contender in the family and business vehicle segments.

By adopting features first seen in rivals like the BYD Great Tang, Xiaomi is signaling its intent to compete directly in the growing new energy SUV market.

What this means for buyers

Buyers looking for a large SUV with flexible seating and advanced technology will find the SkyNomad N90 an appealing option. Those who need to transport larger families or groups, or who value innovative interior features, should consider this model when it launches later in July 2026.

It is also worth comparing the SkyNomad N90 with other SUVs offering similar seating arrangements, such as the BYD Great Tang, to determine which best meets individual needs.
