Tesla is preparing to launch its first megawatt-capable charging stations in Europe, supporting the upcoming arrival of the Tesla Semi truck. Over 100 Megacharger stalls will be installed across 21 stations in key European countries, marking a significant step for electric heavy-duty transport.
Megacharger Network to Support Tesla Semi Launch
Tesla is set to install more than 100 Megacharger stalls at 21 locations throughout Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. These high-powered chargers are designed to support the European debut of the Tesla Semi, the company’s electric long-haul truck.
Dan Priestley, head of development for the Tesla Semi, shared details of the rollout during a presentation at the IAA Transportation fair in Hanover. The first deliveries of the Semi in Europe are scheduled for next year.

Megacharger and Basecharger Details
Tesla’s Megachargers are capable of delivering up to 1.2 megawatts, enabling the Semi’s battery to reach 60% charge in about 30 minutes. Each European Megacharger station will feature a 1,000-volt power cabinet and two stalls, each capable of sending up to 1,500 amperes to an electric vehicle.
Both the Semi and the Megacharger use the MCS 3.2 connector. While other electric trucks cannot use Tesla’s megawatt chargers directly, Tesla will provide CCS adapters for Semi customers to access CCS2 stalls across Europe.

Charging Solutions for Fleets and Logistics
In addition to the public Megacharger network, Tesla will offer both Megacharger and Basecharger dispensers for purchase by logistics hubs and other organizations. Order books are now open, with the first European deliveries expected in the middle of next year.
A Megacharger bundle, including a power cabinet and two stalls, is priced at $188,068 (~AUD 263,887). The 120-kW all-in-one Basecharger costs $19,614 (~AUD 27,522), with a minimum order of two units. The Basecharger provides a DC output of 120 kW and an AC output of 125 kW, allowing the Semi to reach 80% charge in about four hours.
Why this matters
The rollout of Tesla’s Megacharger network in Europe is a key development for the adoption of electric heavy-duty vehicles. By providing high-powered charging infrastructure, Tesla is addressing one of the main challenges for electric truck operations—fast and reliable recharging on major transport routes.
This move also opens opportunities for logistics companies to electrify their fleets, as both public and private charging solutions become available.
What this means for buyers
Fleet operators and logistics companies planning to adopt the Tesla Semi in Europe will benefit from access to a growing network of high-powered Megachargers. With order books open for both Megacharger and Basecharger units, businesses can begin preparing their own charging infrastructure ahead of the Semi’s arrival next year.
Buyers should consider their charging needs and explore whether public Megacharger stations or on-site Basechargers best fit their operations.
