Xpeng Appoints Former Volvo Executive to Lead South Korea Operations

Xpeng has confirmed its plans to enter the South Korean market, appointing automotive veteran Lee Man-sik as managing director of Xpeng Korea. While the company has not yet announced a launch timeline or model lineup, this move marks another step in Xpeng’s international expansion.

Leadership Appointment for South Korea

Xpeng announced that Lee Man-sik, a former executive at Volvo Cars Korea, will become managing director of Xpeng Motors Korea effective December 1, 2026. Lee brings over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, having joined Volvo Cars Korea in 2003 with responsibilities spanning brand positioning, product planning, sales and marketing, and dealer network expansion.

In his new role, Lee will be responsible for establishing Xpeng’s business foundation in South Korea. This includes developing sales and service networks, building strategic partnerships, and strengthening the brand’s presence in the country.

Xpeng’s International Expansion and Recent Performance

Xpeng has not yet provided details on its launch timeline, initial model lineup, or local operations for South Korea, stating that further information will be released at a later date.

The announcement comes as Xpeng’s overseas operations continue to grow. In October 2026, the company delivered a record 13,326 vehicles overseas, marking a 166% year-on-year increase. Overseas deliveries accounted for 26.53% of Xpeng’s total monthly deliveries, which reached 50,237 vehicles—up 19.57% year-on-year and 21.77% from September, surpassing the 50,000 mark for the first time.

For the first 10 months of 2026, Xpeng’s overseas deliveries totaled 72,805 vehicles, up 109.68% year-on-year and representing 21.76% of its total deliveries. However, overall deliveries during this period fell 5.80% to 334,604 vehicles.

Recent Model Launches and Market Presence

Xpeng has accelerated new model rollouts in overseas markets. On November 2, the company confirmed the launch of its flagship G9L SUV in Hong Kong, offering 6-seat and 7-seat extended-range versions with all-wheel drive. The G9L was also introduced to Europe at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, with battery-electric versions available in both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations.

The Mona L05, aimed at a broader market, began global shipments on October 26, with sales planned in 65 countries and regions. The model subsequently launched in China on October 29. Additionally, Xpeng announced plans on October 27 to launch the GX and G9L in the Middle East and to disclose local pricing.

According to a statement on November 2, Xpeng currently operates in 83 countries and regions. Its entry into South Korea will further expand its presence in Asia.
