Geely Adds Star Ace and Star Chill Special Editions to Xingyuan EV After 1 Million Sales Milestone

Geely Auto has introduced two new special edition versions of its popular Xingyuan small EV, following the model’s achievement of surpassing one million units produced. The new Star Ace and Star Chill editions expand the lineup and bring fresh features to one of Geely’s best-selling electric vehicles.

New Special Editions Expand Xingyuan Lineup

Geely’s sub-brand, Geely Galaxy, unveiled the Star Ace and Star Chill special editions at its global user conference. Both versions are priced at $13,737 (~AUD 19,749), with a limited-time benefit price of $13,288 (~AUD 19,103) available through November 30, after applying a $449 (~AUD 645) trade-in subsidy.

These additions join the existing six regular trims of the Xingyuan, which have official guidance prices ranging from $9,697 (~AUD 13,940) to $14,186 (~AUD 20,394), and limited-time benefit prices from $9,248 (~AUD 13,295) to $13,737 (~AUD 19,749).

Design and Technology Features

The Star Ace edition features a sporty exterior package, an obsidian black contrasting interior, and three exclusive body colors. In contrast, the Star Chill offers a relaxed look with a milky salt beige body color and a light beige interior.

Both special editions include a 70-liter power frunk with six electric opening and closing methods, including a knocking function. They also feature the Eva in-car robot, which can turn its head 60 degrees and perform over 50 interactive expressions.

On the technology front, the vehicles are equipped with the Flyme Auto 2.0 smart cockpit system, powered by the 7-nanometer StarDragon 1 chip developed by Geely-backed SiEngine. The Geely Afari Smart Driving (G-ASD) H3 assisted driving system is also standard, supporting highway and elevated road navigation on autopilot (NOA) and memory parking.

Performance and Range

The Xingyuan is a battery electric compact car measuring 4,135 mm (~163 inches) in length, 1,805 mm (~71 inches) in width, and 1,570 mm (~62 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm (~104 inches).

It comes standard with CATL cells across the lineup. Depending on the configuration, the Xingyuan is powered by a rear motor with a maximum output of either 58 kW (78 hp) or 85 kW. Three CLTC range options are available: 310 km (~193 miles), 410 km (~255 miles), and 480 km (~298 miles).

Sales Milestone and Market Position

The Xingyuan reached its one millionth unit produced on October 20, roughly two years after its initial launch in October 2024. The final 200,000 units were produced in just about two months.

Geely disclosed that Xingyuan’s global sales exceeded 70,000 units in October. In overseas markets, the model is sold as the Geely EX2 and competes mainly with BYD’s Seagull and Dolphin.

Why this matters

The introduction of the Star Ace and Star Chill editions demonstrates Geely’s commitment to refreshing its lineup and maintaining strong sales momentum for the Xingyuan. Surpassing one million units produced in just two years highlights the model’s popularity in the competitive small EV segment.

With new technology features and expanded trim options, Geely aims to attract a broader range of buyers and reinforce its position in both domestic and international markets.

What this means for buyers

Buyers now have more choices within the Xingyuan lineup, with special editions offering unique styling and advanced technology at competitive prices. The limited-time benefit pricing through November 30 provides additional value for those considering a purchase.

Shoppers comparing options in the small EV segment should also consider the Xingyuan’s direct competitors, such as the BYD Seagull and Dolphin, to find the best fit for their needs.
