Chery Reveals Tiggo X Flagship SUV With 476 HP, 1,500 km Range and Three Rows

Chery has shown the Tiggo X at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, positioning it as a large three-row hybrid flagship for its mainstream Tiggo range. The SUV brings 476 hp, an estimated 200 km of electric driving range, more than 1,500 km of combined range, off-road-focused hardware, and lidar-based driver assistance.

Chery has unveiled the Tiggo X at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, using the new SUV to push its Tiggo lineup into the large, three-row hybrid segment. The company is presenting it as a smart luxury flagship with stronger performance, more advanced driver assistance technology, and hardware aimed at light off-road use.

The reveal comes as Chery continues reshaping its SUV portfolio. The brand recently launched the Tiggo 7L and has been updating other Tiggo models, but the Tiggo X sits well above those vehicles and is intended to serve as the top mainstream model in the family.

A new flagship for the Tiggo family

The Tiggo range is Chery’s core SUV line in China, covering everything from compact crossovers to full-size family models. With the Tiggo X, the brand is moving further into the high-demand three-row SUV category, where plug-in hybrid and range-extended powertrains have become especially popular.

That market is already crowded. One of the clearest benchmarks is BYD’s Great Tang, which reportedly gathered more than 30,000 pre-orders in 24 hours and starts at 36,460 USD. Chery is clearly aiming at the same family-oriented, electrified large-SUV buyer.

Boxier styling and larger dimensions

Visually, the Tiggo X shifts toward a more rugged look than earlier Tiggo models. It has a tall bonnet, wide wheel arches, and a more upright, box-shaped silhouette that gives it a stronger road presence.

The SUV measures 5,050 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,800 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. It uses a three-row, seven-seat cabin layout and a body made of approximately 85 percent high-strength steel.

Despite its flagship role, the Tiggo X still uses traditional mechanical door handles rather than flush or hidden units. That suggests Chery is keeping the production design practical rather than overly concept-like.

Hybrid power with long driving range

Chery says the Tiggo X uses its hybrid system to deliver a combined 476 hp and 630 Nm of torque. The model is offered with 1.5T and 2.0T combustion engine options paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The plug-in hybrid variant is said to provide about 200 km of electric-only range. In mixed driving, Chery claims the total range can exceed 1,500 km, which would place it among the longer-legged large SUVs in the segment if verified in production testing.

Off-road hardware and smart driving tech

To support its flagship positioning, the Tiggo X is fitted with MRC electromagnetic adaptive suspension and Chery’s Snow Leopard full-time four-wheel-drive system. Those systems are meant to improve grip, ride control, and stability across different road and weather conditions.

The SUV also includes the Falcon Pilot 700 driver-assistance package with lidar. Chery says it supports L2-level assisted driving, including point-to-point driving scenarios, although the driver must remain attentive and in control.

Why Chery is pushing the Tiggo X now

The Tiggo X arrives at an important moment for Chery. Domestic sales data for the upper end of the Tiggo family have shown pressure in recent months, with the Tiggo 9 C-DM falling to 84 units in March 2026 after earlier peaks above 1,000 units in mid-2025, according to China EV DataTracker.

That makes the Tiggo X more than just another launch. It looks like Chery’s attempt to strengthen its position in the premium mass-market SUV space while keeping the model below the company’s Exeed luxury brand.

If the Tiggo X can combine space, range, and competitive pricing, it could become a key product in Chery’s domestic lineup. But it will also face intense competition from established plug-in hybrid rivals that are already drawing strong demand from Chinese buyers.

Why This Matters

The Tiggo X shows how quickly China’s SUV market is moving toward large, electrified, multi-row family vehicles. Buyers now expect long range, strong performance, advanced driver assistance, and enough space for seven passengers in one package.

For Chery, this model is important because it may help stabilize the brand’s upper SUV lineup and improve its position in a segment where rivals are growing fast. The Tiggo X also offers a clear signal of where mainstream Chinese automakers are investing: bigger, smarter, and more electrified vehicles.
