BYD has begun accepting reservations for the second-generation Seal 07, a larger electric sedan featuring the latest Blade Battery and advanced flash charging technology. The new model introduces several upgrades, including a longer body and enhanced suspension, as BYD aims to reinvigorate its Seal lineup amid recent sales pressure.
Reservations Now Open
BYD (HKEX: 1211) has officially opened reservations for the second-generation Seal 07. Zhang Zhuo, general manager of BYD’s Ocean lineup sales division, announced the move on Weibo, though pre-sales prices have not yet been disclosed. This approach, known as blind reservations, allows customers to express purchase intent without committing to a final configuration or price.
Reservation holders will receive priority in production and delivery, and deposits are fully refundable until orders are locked in. Customers can also change colors and configurations after the official launch. BYD is offering exclusive gifts to those who place reservations and complete delivery.

Key Features and Upgrades
The second-generation Seal 07 grows to 5,080 mm (~200 inches) in length, making it 85 mm longer than the model launched in March. The wheelbase has also increased by 60 mm to 2,960 mm (~116.5 inches). The car adopts BYD’s Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language, with styling consistent with the Seal 08, and is available in six exterior colors and three interior color schemes.
A major highlight is the inclusion of BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology, which the company promotes as ‘ready in 5 minutes, full in 9 minutes.’ The sedan also features the DiSus-M intelligent magnetorheological body control system, front double-wishbone and reinforced rear 5-link suspension, and BYD’s Smart Ecosystem 2.0.
Inside, the Seal 07 offers front zero-gravity seats with massage, ventilation, and heating functions, along with a 20-speaker Devialet audio system. Trunk and front-trunk capacities are listed at 618 liters and 160 liters, respectively. The vehicle shown includes roof-mounted LiDAR, though details on driver-assistance features and trim variations have not been released.
Powertrain Options
According to filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the battery-electric version of the second-generation Seal 07 will offer peak motor outputs of 245 kW (329 hp) and 300 kW, both improvements over the 240 kW of the previous model. In addition to the battery-electric variant, a plug-in hybrid version—retaining the Seal 07 DM-i name—will be available. This model pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a 160 kW electric motor, a 38.029-kWh battery, and a WLTC electric range of 245 km (~152 miles).
The latest official information did not specify reservation details for the plug-in hybrid version.
Sales Context
The Seal lineup, which includes both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid models, has faced sales pressure in recent months. Data compiled by CnEVPost shows that 46,718 Seal-series vehicles were sold in September, a 9.04% decrease year-on-year and a 1.57% drop from August. In the first nine months of 2026, total sales reached 304,723 units, down 14.11% compared to the same period last year.
For reference, the Seal 07 EV launched on March 5 was offered in two variants priced at $25,399 (~AUD 36,145) and $28,389 (~AUD 40,400).
Why this matters
The launch of the second-generation Seal 07 marks a significant update for BYD’s electric sedan lineup, introducing advanced battery and charging technologies alongside a larger, more refined design. The focus on rapid charging—’ready in 5 minutes, full in 9 minutes’—could address a key concern for EV buyers and help BYD compete more effectively in a crowded market.
With the Seal lineup experiencing a decline in sales, these upgrades may be crucial for BYD to regain momentum and attract new customers.
What this means for buyers
Buyers interested in the second-generation Seal 07 can reserve the vehicle now with a fully refundable deposit and enjoy priority production and delivery. The ability to change configurations after launch adds flexibility, while the promise of rapid charging and enhanced comfort features may appeal to those seeking a premium electric sedan.
As pre-sales prices have not yet been announced, potential customers should monitor BYD’s official channels for further updates and consider how the new model’s features compare to other options in the segment.
