BYD has revealed details of its upcoming Da Han flagship sedan, which will make its debut at the Chengdu Auto Show in August. The battery electric version of the Da Han is set to offer a remarkable 1,008 kilometers (~626 miles) of range, positioning it as a new highlight in BYD’s Dynasty lineup.
Da Han: BYD’s New Flagship Sedan
The Da Han is the first D-segment flagship sedan in BYD’s Dynasty lineup. It is positioned above the existing Han sedan and represents BYD’s push into the premium segment. The model will join the Da Tang SUV, which began deliveries last month, as the flagship pair for the Dynasty series.
According to BYD, the Da Han combines D+ segment proportions with a long-range battery electric system, aiming to set a new standard for flagship sedans in the lineup.
Technical Highlights and Variants
Regulatory filings show the Da Han measures 5,256 mm (~207 inches) in length, 1,999 mm (~79 inches) in width, and 1,510 mm (~59 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm (~123 inches). The sedan will be available in three versions: two battery electric variants and one plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variant.
The all-wheel-drive BEV version features a dual-motor system delivering a combined peak output of 570 kW (764 hp) and a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour. All versions use BYD’s Blade batteries based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, expected to be the company’s second-generation Blade batteries supporting ultra-fast flash charging.
Chengdu Auto Show Debut
The Da Han will make its official debut at the twenty-ninth Chengdu Auto Show, scheduled from August 21 to 30 in Chengdu, Sichuan province. The Chengdu Auto Show is recognized as one of China’s five major A-class auto shows, attracting nearly 120 brands last year.
BYD announced the Da Han’s upcoming debut during an event in Xinjiang, which also marked the delivery of the 10,000th Da Tang EV.

Da Tang SUV: Flagship Sibling
The Da Tang SUV, launched on June 17, is the Dynasty lineup’s first D-segment flagship SUV. It features BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and offers a maximum battery electric range of 950 kilometers (~590 miles).
The Da Tang EV is priced from $35,376 (~AUD 50,592) to $45,698 (~AUD 65,354) and is described by BYD as the world’s longest-range full-size SUV.
Why this matters
The introduction of the Da Han sedan with a 1,008-kilometer range underscores BYD’s commitment to advancing electric vehicle technology and expanding its presence in the premium market. With both the Da Han and Da Tang models, BYD is aiming to set new benchmarks for range and performance in China’s competitive EV segment.
These developments highlight the rapid progress of Chinese automakers in delivering long-range, high-performance electric vehicles to market.

What this means for buyers
Buyers interested in premium electric sedans with extended range will soon have a new option in the BYD Da Han. Those considering a flagship SUV can also look to the Da Tang, which offers one of the longest ranges available in its class.
With the official debut set for August, potential buyers should watch for further details and pricing announcements at the Chengdu Auto Show.
