How LG lost the battery race by betting on the wrong chemistry

In July, BYD’s installed power battery volume was 6.4 GWh and its market share reached 16.2 percent, surpassing LG Energy Solution’s 11 percent and ranking second globally. In June, LG Energy Solution had a 16 percent share, higher than BYD’s 11.2 percent. However, from January to July, BYD’s global share remained lower than LG Energy Solution, with the two at 12.6 percent and 14.2 percent respectively.
