Li Auto Li Mega Faces Samsung OLED Screen Shortage, Offers Temporary LCD Solution

Li Auto‘s new-generation Li Mega electric MPV is facing a supply shortage of its custom 29-inch Samsung OLED screens. To keep deliveries on track, the company will temporarily equip affected vehicles with LCD screens and promises free OLED replacements next year.

Samsung OLED Screen Supply Disruption

Li Auto has announced a temporary supply disruption of the 29-inch 6K automotive-grade OLED panoramic screens, which are custom-made by Samsung for the Li Mega electric MPV. According to Tang Jing, Li Auto’s product line head, the shortage is expected to affect vehicles produced from November 10 to December 17, 2026.

The disruption impacts all customers who locked in their orders between 5:06 pm Beijing Time on September 11 and 9:52 am on October 26. No other supplier currently offers a screen with the same specifications as the Samsung OLED used in the Li Mega.

Temporary LCD Screen Solution and Customer Support

To maintain its delivery schedule, Li Auto will temporarily install a 29-inch 6K LCD screen—the same model used in the Li L9 Livis—in affected Li Mega vehicles. The company stated that both the OLED and LCD screens provide identical software and interaction experiences.

Li Auto plans to begin contacting affected customers in delivery order from March 1, 2027, to arrange free replacements with the original 29-inch OLED screen once supply recovers. The front panoramic screen is designed for easy removal and replacement, with the process taking just over 10 minutes.

Compensation and Warranty

As compensation, Li Auto will provide all affected customers with a 3-year Li Mega service package. This includes unlimited in-car data, unlimited vehicle pickup and return for maintenance and repairs, and air-conditioning filter maintenance.

The replacement OLED screen will carry the same 5-year or 100,000-kilometer (62,140-mile) warranty as the vehicle. Customers will receive detailed terms through targeted notifications in the Li Auto app, and product specialists will begin individual outreach on November 2.

Li Mega Deliveries and Pricing

The new-generation Li Mega was launched on September 2, 2026, in the Home version, priced at $76,537 (~AUD 108,892), which is 50,000 yuan less than the previous Home version. The latest model features hardware upgrades, including 4 LiDAR sensors, rear-wheel steering, and the 29-inch OLED front-cabin screen.

Li Auto reported that deliveries of the new Li Mega exceeded 3,000 vehicles in October, following 2,318 deliveries in September. Overall, Li Auto delivered 29,025 vehicles in October, marking an 8.63% year-on-year decline and the company’s lowest monthly total since February.

Why this matters

The temporary shortage of Samsung OLED screens highlights the challenges automakers face with supply chain disruptions, especially for custom high-tech components. Li Auto’s decision to offer a temporary LCD solution and a free OLED replacement aims to minimize delivery delays and maintain customer satisfaction during the supply interruption.

What this means for buyers

Customers who ordered the Li Mega during the affected period should expect their vehicles to be delivered with a temporary LCD screen, with a guaranteed free upgrade to the original OLED screen starting in March 2027. Buyers will also receive additional service benefits as compensation, ensuring continued support and warranty coverage.
