Luxeed, the Huawei- and Chery-backed brand, will officially launch its V9 MPV later this month after opening pre-sales on April 22. The extended-range seven-seat model starts at 399,800 yuan and attracted more than 22,500 pre-orders in its first 72 hours, underscoring strong interest ahead of delivery.

Luxeed is preparing to officially launch its V9 MPV later this month, Huawei executive director Richard Yu said in a Weibo post on Thursday. The model is the latest addition to the Huawei and Chery-backed brand’s lineup and marks its entry into the MPV segment.
The V9 opened for pre-sales on April 22, just ahead of the Beijing Auto Show, with a starting price of 399,800 yuan, or about $58,750. Luxeed said the vehicle secured more than 22,500 pre-orders within 72 hours of the pre-sale launch, a sign of strong early demand for the new model.
Luxeed’s First Flagship MPV Under HIMA
The V9 is described as the first flagship MPV under HIMA, short for Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance. HIMA is Huawei’s vehicle alliance covering multiple auto brands and model categories, and the V9 expands that portfolio into a new family-oriented body style.

Luxeed is jointly developed by Huawei and Chery. The brand currently sells the Luxeed S7 sedan and Luxeed R7 coupe SUV, and the V9 will add a larger three-row people mover to that lineup.
Size, Seating, and Powertrain Details
The V9 is a three-row, seven-seat MPV with dimensions that place it among the larger models in its class. It measures 5,359 mm in length, 2,009 mm in width, and 1,859 mm or 1,879 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm.
Under the body, the vehicle uses a 1.5-liter range-extending engine paired with a CATL lithium battery pack and a drive system supplied by Huawei. Two battery options are available: 37 kWh and 53.4 kWh. Luxeed says those packs provide electric range of 158 km to 223 km, while the maximum combined range reaches 1,250 km when the fuel tank and battery are both fully topped up.
Huawei Hardware and Chassis Features
The V9 rides on Huawei’s Turing chassis platform, which is intended to support improved handling and ride control. All versions come with rear-wheel steering as standard, a feature that can help reduce turning radius and improve maneuverability at low speeds.
Luxeed has already sent the first batch of V9 display vehicles to its retail stores, suggesting the company is moving from preview to full market introduction. The model was also shown at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2026.
Why the V9 Matters for HIMA
The V9 gives Luxeed a presence in the MPV market, which is important in China because large family vehicles and premium shuttle-style models remain a meaningful segment for both private buyers and business users. It also broadens the product mix inside HIMA, which already includes Aito from Seres, Stelato from BAIC Group, Shangjie from SAIC Motor, and Maextro from JAC.
HIMA said its models delivered 32,759 vehicles in April, up 18.9% from a year earlier. The V9’s launch will test whether Luxeed can convert its early pre-order momentum into sustained sales in a highly competitive premium NEV market.

Why This Matters
The Luxeed V9 is more than a new model launch. It shows Huawei’s automotive strategy moving deeper into larger, family-focused vehicles while giving the HIMA ecosystem another product category to compete in.

The early pre-order count suggests demand is already building before deliveries begin, which could make the V9 an important volume and image car for Luxeed. It also adds pressure on rivals in China’s premium MPV market, where buyers expect a mix of space, long range, and advanced in-cabin technology.
