Xiaomi Reveals Skynomad EREV Specs Ahead of July 30 Launch: 5.7L/100km Economy, Dual-Motor Options

Xiaomi Auto has released key technical details for its upcoming Skynomad range-extended SUV lineup, set for a full unveiling on July 30, 2026. The new Kunlun Range Extender supports multiple fuel types and promises notable efficiency, as Xiaomi continues to expand its EV offerings beyond the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV.

Kunlun Range Extender: Technical Highlights

The Skynomad series will debut with Xiaomi’s new Kunlun Range Extender, which is compatible with 92, 95, and 98 octane gasoline. The system features a 1.5T M15DRE engine, developed in partnership with Harbin Dongan Auto Engine, delivering a maximum output of 112 kW.

Xiaomi reports a minimum WLTC-depleted fuel consumption of 5.7 L/100 km (~41 mpg). The range extender and the three-electric system are backed by an 8-year or 160,000 km (~99,400 miles) warranty, with maintenance required every three years or 30,000 km (~18,640 miles) after the initial service.

Skynomad N90 Max and N70 Max: Dimensions and Range

The Skynomad N90 Max prototype, identified as KV235, has completed over 60,000 km (~37,280 miles) of road testing since January 2026. The N90 Max measures 5,285 mm (~208 inches) in length, 1,998 mm (~79 inches) in width, and 1,825 mm (~72 inches) in height, with a 3,080 mm (~121 inches) wheelbase. A camping version is listed at 1,925 mm (~76 inches) in height.

Seating options include five-seat and 2+2+3 seven-seat layouts. The N90 Max pairs the 1.5T range extender (112 kW) with dual electric motors rated at 210 kW and 100 kW, and a 76 kWh battery pack. WLTC pure-electric range is listed at 363–370 km (~226–230 miles).

The smaller Skynomad N70 Max, with a four-wheel-drive dual-motor configuration, measures 4,960 mm (~195 inches) in length, 1,998 mm (~79 inches) in width, and 1,765 mm (~69 inches) in height, with a 2,950 mm (~116 inches) wheelbase. It offers five-seat layouts, single- and dual-motor options, and battery capacities of 52 kWh or 76 kWh. Electric range varies from 265–270 km (~165–168 miles) to 375–380 km (~233–236 miles), depending on configuration.

Xiaomi Auto’s Growing EV Portfolio

The Skynomad lineup marks Xiaomi Auto’s second major product series, joining the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV. In June 2026, Xiaomi Auto recorded 34,738 vehicle sales, a 6.0% increase from May and up 36.4% year on year, capturing a 2.2% share of the domestic market.

The Xiaomi SU7 accounted for 20,414 units (58.8% of sales), while the YU7 reached 14,324 units (41.2%). Compared to May, SU7 sales declined 15.0%, but YU7 sales surged by 64.0%. Year-on-year, SU7 sales dropped 12.1%, while YU7 sales soared by 541.2%.

Competitor Comparison

The Skynomad EREV will enter a segment already contested by models such as the Li Auto L9 and the Aito M9. The Li Auto L9, priced at $36,885 (~AUD 52,761), is a flagship EREV SUV and a direct competitor in terms of size and technology. The Aito M9, with pricing above $36,885 (~AUD 52,761), also targets the large EREV SUV market, offering similar range-extender technology and premium features.

Why this matters

The introduction of the Skynomad EREV series signals Xiaomi’s continued expansion in the EV sector, following the launch of the SU7. By offering range-extended SUVs with competitive electric range and flexible fuel compatibility, Xiaomi is positioning itself to challenge established players in China’s large SUV market.

The new Kunlun Range Extender and the Skynomad’s technical features may appeal to buyers seeking long-distance capability and lower running costs, especially in regions where charging infrastructure is still developing.

What this means for buyers

Buyers interested in large, range-extended SUVs will soon have another option with the Xiaomi Skynomad lineup. While final pricing and delivery dates have not yet been announced, the technical presentation on July 30, 2026, is expected to provide more details.

Potential customers should compare the Skynomad’s specifications and expected pricing with established competitors like the Li Auto L9 and Aito M9, and consider regional availability as Xiaomi expands its EV portfolio.
