BYD Sealion 08 Interior Officially Revealed Ahead of China Launch

BYD has unveiled the interior of its Sealion 08 full-size SUV in China, offering a first look at the cabin features as the model approaches its market debut. The Sealion 08, the flagship SUV in BYD’s Ocean series, was first revealed in April 2026 and has now reached several dealers. On July 31, official images of the interior were shared by Zhang Zhuo, general manager of the BYD Ocean Series sales division.

Interior Design and Features

The BYD Sealion 08 adopts the brand’s latest design language, featuring a floating dashboard screen and a large LCD instrument cluster. The three-spoke D-shaped steering wheel includes a gear shifter mounted on the steering column. The center tunnel is equipped with a wireless phone charging pad, a set of physical buttons, and a hidden compartment.

Ambient lighting is provided at two levels, while the door cards incorporate seashell-shaped handles inspired by marine aesthetics. Other notable features include a streaming rearview mirror, a suede-covered ceiling, and leather-covered seats. The second row offers two independent captain chairs with power leg rests, and the right passenger seat features a zero-gravity mode. Both seats have integrated cup holders in the armrests, and a folding table is available for the rear right passenger. A large ceiling-mounted screen and beige seatbelts complete the interior highlights.

Seating and Passenger Comfort

The Sealion 08 is available in both five-seat and six-seat layouts. The third row provides two seats, while the second row includes climate control and both Type-A and Type-C charging ports for added convenience. Heating and ventilation functions are also available for the second-row seats.

Chassis, Suspension, and Advanced Features

This full-size SUV measures 5,115 mm (~201 inches) in length, 1,999 mm (~78.7 inches) in width, and 1,800 mm (~70.9 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm (~119.3 inches). The Sealion 08 features rear-wheel steering and the DiSus-A chassis with dual-chamber air suspension. It is equipped with the DiPilot 5.0 assisted driving system, which supports Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) on both urban roads and highways.

Powertrain Options and Range

The BEV version of the Sealion 08 offers two LFP battery options: 92.093 kWh and 115.072 kWh. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive model is powered by a single rear axle e-motor delivering 320 kW (429 hp), while the long-range version features a 370 kW (496 hp) e-motor. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant provides a combined peak output of 585 kW (784 hp). Depending on the configuration, the Sealion 08 offers a CLTC range between 710 km (~441 miles) and 900 km (~559 miles).

A DM-i plug-in hybrid version is also available, combining a 1.5-liter engine producing 115 kW (154 hp) with an electric motor rated at 200 kW (268 hp). This hybrid model can achieve up to 400 km (~249 miles) of CLTC range. Additionally, a DM-p version with two electric motors and a combined output of 400 kW (536 hp) is expected.

BYD Sales Performance

According to China EV DataTracker, BYD delivered 177,442 units domestically in June 2026, representing a 44.4% decrease. For the first half of 2026, BYD’s delivery volume reached 795,169 units, down 45.9% compared to the previous period.

Why this matters

The unveiling of the Sealion 08’s interior highlights BYD’s focus on advanced technology, comfort, and flexible seating in its flagship SUV. With a range of powertrain options and luxury features, the Sealion 08 is positioned to attract families and tech-focused buyers in China’s competitive SUV market.

BYD’s recent sales figures provide important context for the launch, as the company navigates a shifting domestic market while introducing new flagship models.

What this means for buyers

Buyers interested in a full-size SUV with advanced driver assistance, flexible seating, and a choice of electric or plug-in hybrid powertrains will find the Sealion 08 a compelling new option. As the model nears its official launch, potential customers should watch for further details on pricing and availability at local dealerships.
